Anne Boleyn, one of the most captivating figures in British history, is forever linked to Hever Castle. This picturesque estate in Kent was where Anne spent her formative years before her ascent to the English throne as the second wife of King Henry VIII. Anne’s life, marked by her intelligence, charm, and eventual tragic fate, has left an indelible mark on history, and Hever Castle stands as a testament to her enduring legacy.
Hever Castle is more than just Anne Boleyn’s childhood home; it’s a living monument to her life and the historical events that shaped her destiny. The historic walls of the castle have witnessed the joys and sorrows of Anne’s life, and now, in August 2025, they will once again come alive with the story of this remarkable woman through our musical. This production will offer visitors a unique opportunity to step back in time and experience the world as Anne might have known it, within the very grounds where she grew up.
But the story of Hever Castle isn’t just about the Tudors. Today, Eliane Astor, a descendant by marriage of the Astor family – who have owned Hever Castle throughout the 20th century, playing a central role in re-enchanting this historic house by creating Italian Garden and adding the Astor Wing before handing over to the current owner the Guthrie Family – is playing a pivotal role in this production. As the future Lady Astor of Hever, Eliane is excited to work on the grounds where her in-laws’ ancestors once lived. Through the management of this musical, she hopes to forge her own connection with Hever Castle, creating a new chapter in its history that will be significant for her own daughters.
